Colonoscopy is a method to investigate the inner lining of a person’s large intestine.
It can be done as a screening test for colon polyps or for cancer.
It is recommended to have a colonoscopy in the case that you find blood in your bowel movements, history of colon cancer/polyps, or others.
Colonoscopy preparation includes fasting and drinking a special solution that empties your colon.
Patients are sedated through during the procedure.
Patients stay in the recovery room after for about 30-60 minutes and then can be sent home.
