An abdominal ultrasound is done to visualize structures inside the abdomen. Your doctor may recommend this in order to examine the blood vessels in the abdomen, gallbladder, intestines, kidneys, liver, pancreas or spleen. It can be done to evaluate the cause of stomach pain or bloating.
