Acid reflux is when there is excessive acid from your stomach that back-tracks into the esophagus.
Symptoms include heartburn, regurgitation (when acid and undigested food flow back into your mouth/throat), stomach pain, nausea, etc.
Treatment includes lifestyle modifications such as losing weight, avoiding certain foods like fatty foods and coffee and to stop smoking.
There are also medications such as histamine blockers, antacids and proton pump inhibitors that work by reducing or blocking stomach acid.
Make sure to see a doctor if you experience any trouble swallowing, unexpectedly lose weight or have chest pain.
